HOPE, Ind. – The Hope Volunteer Fire Department (HVFD) responded to a fire alarm at Hauser High School on Wednesday afternoon. A report of a garden tractor on fire in the Ag shop prompted Bartholomew County Dispatch to upgrade the call to a structure fire.
Upon arrival, HVFD learned that the quick actions of the individuals in the shop helped contain the fire to the tractor. Several fire extinguishers were used to fight the blaze. There was no damage to the structure.
Hope Fire Department EMTs and Columbus Regional Health ambulance crews treated several on the scene for difficulty breathing because of the fire and smoke.
