INDIANAPOLIS – The state of Indiana is releasing data that shows the number of fire-related deaths dropped from 84 in 2014 to 73 in 2015.
The decline is attributed to local departments that continue to make smoke detectors available in the community. The American Red Cross has helped local fire departments install more than 5,700 smoke alarms since October 2014.
The Columbus Fire Department has smoke alarms available for the general public at each fire station.
