GREENSBURG, Ind.— The mother of a Greensburg man who died while in jail will receive $640,000 in a lawsuit with Decatur County.
M. Shane Satterfield, 38, died in March 2014 while serving a two-week jail sentence for drunken driving.
His mother alleged the sheriff and jail staff acted with “callousness or reckless indifference” during Satterfield’s medical emergency.
The Greensburg Daily News reports that the settlement also includes implemented changes at the jail.
