NEW WHITELAND, Ind. – An Indianapolis man with an alleged history of violence against women is going to prison after a jury convicted him of beating and confining his girlfriend at knifepoint.
Blake Hansen, 24, was found guilty on charges of confinement, intimidation and battery.
Hansen was at a New Whiteland home in October 2015 when he repeatedly beat his girlfriend. At one point Hansen forced her into the bathtub and held her there at knifepoint, threatening to kill her and her family if she told anyone what happened, prosecutors said.
The victim was able to call police the next day.
At the time, Hansen was under supervision for a Marion County case for strangulation and domestic battery of a different woman.
“Hansen’s history of violence against women, coupled with the egregious facts of this case, is the exact reason we will be seeking a lengthy prison sentence,” said Chief Deputy Joe Villanueva.
Hansen faces up to 16 years in prison when he is sentenced Feb. 4.
He also faces additional charges of intimidation and invasion of privacy involving the same victim for acts allegedly committed after his arrest. A trial date is scheduled for March 22.
