COLUMBUS, Ind. — A partnership between Ivy Tech Community College and the Columbus Municipal Airport will expand Ivy Tech’s agricultural program. The City of Columbus Board of Aviation has agreed to rent two acres of airport-owned farmland at the minimum cost to grow crops this spring.
The farmland will be used to grow and retail popcorn. The production will help teach agriculture students about soil science, crop machinery, precision field mapping and soil sampling. Ivy Tech Columbus offers one of the top agriculture programs in Indiana, and the popcorn project will help grow and develop the program.
