NORTH VERNON, Ind. — A Jennings County deputy is among three men charged in connection to an altercation in Butlerville in August 2015.
The deputy, Cody Low, 26, of North Vernon, was charged Wednesday with misdemeanor battery and public intoxication.
The alleged incident occurred Aug. 8 at the Butlerville Grocery Store during a memorial motorcycle ride.
Investigators say Low’s father-in-law Jeffrey Royce, 43, became angry at a man who urinated in front of Royce’s wife. Royce allegedly battered the victim.
A short time later, Low and another individual confronted the victim and beat him up, police said.
A special prosecutor filed charges against the three men Wednesday. All three turned themselves in to the Jennings County Jail and have bonded out.
