COLUMBUS, Ind. — A streak of lightning caused a gas leak and minor damage Thursday morning.
Columbus firefighters responded to the area of the 900 block of Hummingbird Lane arounnd 7:15 a.m. after a tree was struck by lightning.
The lightning strike caused debris, damaged a street light and ruptured a gas line.
Firefighters could hear natural gas leaking near the base of a large tree. Vectren Energy came to the scene and stopped the gas leak.
The lightning also traveled to a nearby vehicle and the car would not start.
Nobody was hurt as fire crews were on the scene for more than an hour.
