INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Columbus native Tony Stewart battled back from a pit road penalty to finish 11th in the Brickyard 400 Sunday. Retired driver from Pittsboro, Indiana, Jeff Gordon, who came back for this race, started 26th and finished 13th.
Gordon was disappointed in his finish and was particularly not happy with his performance during restarts. He noted his time out of the car while praising the driving talents and physical fitness of the regular drivers in the league.
Kyle Busch won the event in dominating fashion. He started from the pole and led 149 of the 160 laps to win the event for the second year in a row. Busch also won the Nationwide series event on Saturday from the pole.
