COLUMBUS, Ind. — A Franklin man in a stolen vehicle led police on three-county pursuit Sunday evening.
Around 11:11 p.m. Bartholomew County deputies attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Jeffery Cox, 30 near 2nd and Jackson Streets. Cox fled west on Third Street at speeds up to 80 miles-per-hour. The chase continued on State Road 46 into Brown County then north on State Road 135. Bartholomew County deputies continued pursuit and were joined by deputies from Brown County and Morgan County and the Indiana State Police. A Bartholomew County deputy again made contact with Cox in the 8400 block of State Road 252 where numerous law enforcement agencies had Cox in custody. A female passenger jumped from the vehicle during the pursuit in Morgantown.
Cox has been charged with receiving and possessing stolen property, possession of a syringe, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, driving while suspended, resisting law enforcement and reckless driving. He is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail.
