SEYMOUR, Ind. — Detectives are investigating a report of a police impersonator near the Jackson-Lawrence County line Saturday night.
A female told police she was traveling west on U.S. 50 when a red pick-up truck with flashing lights approached her from behind. When she pulled over, a man wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, identifying himself as a Jackson County police officer told her she was being stopped for speeding. During the conversation he asked her to move her car to a safe place further down the road.
The female did move her car, but did not stop again. She was suspicious because the man was not in uniform and had not displayed a badge. As she continued west on U.S. 50, the man passed her and headed into Lawrence County.
The female described the suspect as a white male with a skinny face, large eyes, and short hair.
This is an ongoing investigation.
