Columbus native and candidate for Vice President of the United States, Mike Pence, introduced Eric Holcomb to local Republicans on Saturday.
Pence told supporters that Holcomb, Republican candidate for Indiana governor, is the most qualified person to lead the state forward. He added that Holcomb not only understands fiscal responsibility but he has been a part of the last two administrations that resulted in Indiana achieving the highest credit rating possible, a $2 billion surplus, and one of the top five states in the nation for employment growth.
Holcomb told Local News Digital he plans to focus on policies that will continue to grow jobs, raise income, and promote fiscal responsibility. He pointed out that while Democrats led the state payments to school districts, other entities were delayed. Those delays created problems for day-to-day operations.
Pence responded to questions about managing a national campaign and being the top executive in the state by saying, “The business of the citizens of Indiana is the highest priority for me and will not change during this campaign.” He told reporters he spent Friday meeting with health officials evaluating and developing plans to help Indiana deal with the threat of the Zika virus.
