NORTH VERNON, Ind. — Jennings County Sheriff’s deputies and Indiana State troopers are continuing to follow leads developed after multiple drug overdoses Tuesday evening. Reports indicate in one case, four doses of Narcan were given to an overdose victim before results began to develop. Police have learned the overdoses may have been caused by heroin laced with a powerful painkiller Fentanyl, or an animal tranquilizer such as carfentanil.
Officers executed a search warrant on East Mark Drive at 2 a.m. Wednesday, and confiscated a small amount of drugs and made one arrest. Jordan McCarty, 18, was arrested for felony possession of narcotics, possession of stolen property, altering a serial number on a handgun and possession of paraphernalia.
As a result of the incidents earlier in the week, Jennings County Sheriff Gary Driver has issued two doses of Narcan to each deputy. On Tuesday night, as the result of the rash of overdoses in Jackson and Jennings counties, police in Jackson County arrested Michael Purvis.
