COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew County Republicans cashed in on big wins as constituents set records for voter turnout, as 59.82% of the county voted, or 33,196 total ballots were cast.
The Trump/Pence presidential ticket beat the Clinton/Kaine option 63 to 30 percent, and Republicans Eric Holcomb and Suzanne Crouch defeated John Gregg and Christina Hale in the Indiana gubernatorial race.
Challenger in the State Representative 59th District contest, Democrat Bob Pittman, was defeated by incumbent Republican Milo Smith 61 to 39 percent.
In the Bartholomew County Commissioner District 3 race, Rick Flohr tallied 65 percent of the vote compared to Brad Woodcock’s 35 percent. Columbus police officer Clayton Nolting will serve as coroner. Nolting had 63 percent of the compared to Paula Rothrock’s 37 percent. The top three finishers in the race for Bartholomew County council are Bill Lentz, Evelyn Strietelmeier Pence and Matt Miller, all Republicans.
FRANKLIN, Ind. — It was a big election day in Johnson County. Donald Trump came out in front of Hilary Clinton with a 68 percent lead over her 27 percent.
Eric Holcomb and running mate, Suzanne Crouch, also both Republicans, beat out Democrats John Gregg and Christina Hale by 64 to 34 percent win. Republican Todd Young claimed the United States Senate race over democrat Evan Bayh, with a 64 percent to 32 percent lead.
The fight for Attorney General was another republican success for Curtis T. Hill, Jr. as he beat out democrat Lorenzo Arredondo with 75 percent to Arredondo’s 25 percent. The Johnson County corner will be republican Craig Lutz.
The top three winners as county council are Republicans Josh McCarty, John E. Meyers and Joshua R. (Josh) Turner.
SEYMOUR, Ind. — Jackson County Republicans turned out in force to vote for their chosen candidates. Donald Trump and Mike Pence came in on top of Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine, a 73 percent/22 percent victory.
The same is true as Jackson County voters choose republicans Eric Holcomb and Suzanne Crouch over rivals John R. Gregg and Christina Hale, with a 65 to 32 percent win. In the race for Attorney General, democrat Lorenzo Arredondo lost to Curtis T. Hill, Jr. by a 75 to 25 percent difference.
Republican Jennifer McCormick beat out Democrat Glenda Ritz, 63 percent to 37 percent. For County Coroner, Republican Michael L. Bobb was chosen over democrat Andy Rumph by a 59 to 41 percent margin.
Jackson County voters also selected Republican Todd Young over Democrat Evan Bayh, 64 percent to 32 percent.
