COLUMBUS, Ind. — In a November surprise, Donald Trump turned back the pollsters and scored an upset win to become the 45th President of the United States Tuesday night. The win makes his running mate, Columbus native Mike Pence, the 6th vice president with Hoosier roots.
Trump ended the night with 274 Electoral College delegates compared to 218 for Hillary Clinton. Trump was able to win some traditionally Democrat states like Wisconsin, North Carolina and Pennsylvania. At press time, Trump was trailing in the popular vote by about 48,000 votes.
Trump told the nation he wanted to be the President for all Americans and to begin the healing and rebuilding process. Hillary Clinton is expected to deliver her concession speech later this morning.
