COLUMBUS, Ind. — An Edinburgh man is facing charges after impersonating a police officer in Columbus on Friday around 4:10 p.m.
A woman told police a man with no shirt, later identified as Gregory Simpson, 32, was in her back yard in the 2900 block of McKinley Avenue, and refused to leave. The woman told police he told her he was a U.S. marshal. When officers questioned Simpson he told them he was a marshal in the U.S. military.
Because police suspected Simpson was on drugs, they took him to Columbus Regional Health prior to transporting him to the Bartholomew County Jail. Simpson was charged with impersonating a police officer and public intoxication.
