GREENWOOD, Ind. — An apparent robbery in downtown Greenwood resulted in a shooting that claimed the life of one person and wounded two others around 3:15 a.m. Thursday.
Law enforcement located a vehicle matching the description of the one in the initial robbery report at the intersection of County Line Road and Emerson Avenue. From there, the suspects were tracked by a police dog to an address in the 500 block of Meridian Street in Greenwood. Shots were fired and the suspects fled. One suspect was shot in the chest and found immediately. He was treated at the scene and transported to an Indianapolis hospital where he was pronounced dead. The other two suspects were found a short time later at a neighborhood church. One was treated for a wound to the leg, and the other for a wound to the abdomen.
Police have a juvenile and a woman in custody. Detectives are now investigating to determine exactly what happened.
