NINEVEH, Ind. — A Nineveh man has lost $1,500 in an online vehicle sale scam.
The victim found the vehicle for sale on Ebay from the owner in Nebraska and began negotiations. After the sales price of $1,500 was agreed upon, the victim began preparations to travel to Nebraska.
The victim received a text message from a family member of the seller saying she was called to active duty and passed the transaction off to him. The victim was instructed to get three, $500 Ebay gift cards and give him the numbers.
After the victim gave the caller the numbers he became suspicious and called police. Johnson County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the matter.
