WASHINGTON, D.C. — This Friday is Inauguration Day and events begin with musical performances by 3 Doors Down, Lee Greenwood and Toby Keith. Opening remarks are set for 11:30 and the ceremony will begin at noon.
About 40 people from the Columbus area will travel by bus to Washington D.C. for the inauguration and the Indiana Society Ball on Thursday night. The Indiana Society Ball is held at the Grand Hyatt in Washington, D.C. and is co-chaired by Karen Pence and Mrs. Jill Donnelly. The evening includes music, a cocktail reception, and a meal prepared by an award winning chef. The event will celebrate the Indiana Bicentennial and the inauguration of the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump and Columbus native Vice President Mike Pence.
At the inauguration ceremony, Vice-President elect Pence will use two bibles, one from the Reagan family, and one from his own family. The Reagan bible was given to Ronald Reagan by his mother and is owned by the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute. The Pence bible is not the same bible that was used for his inauguration as governor.
Following the ceremony, the Inauguration Parade will move 15 blocks down Pennsylvania Avenue between the U.S. Capitol and the White House. The Columbus North Marching Band will participate in the parade.
