COLUMBUS, Ind. — Columbus firefighters responded to a structure fire in the 1600 block of Forest Drive on Friday morning around 5:30. No injuries were reported.
As crews arrived on the scene, fire was seen coming through the roof area. After a short battle from the exterior, crews began an interior attack. Heavy flames were encountered and extinguished on the second floor of the home.
Reports indicate the home was a rental and it was vacant at the time of the blaze. Damage has been estimated at $75,000 and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
