TAYLORSVILLE, Ind. — Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Deputies were involved in a short pursuit that resulted in two arrests early Sunday.
Around 2:55 a.m., police stopped a vehicle driven by Sherry Biggerstaff on northbound U.S. 31 near Interstate 65. The driver and passenger, Loniesha Dycus Mays, were ordered out of the vehicle when deputies smelled marijuana. Mays ran around to the driver’s side of the car, got in and sped off onto northbound I-65. A chase at speeds of over 90 mph ensued. Since deputies had the identity of the driver and the vehicle, the pursuit was quickly terminated and Johnson County law enforcement was notified that the suspects were heading their way. Whiteland Police located Mays at a truck stop, arrested her, and transported her to the Bartholomew County Jail.
Mays has been charged with resisting law enforcement, reckless driving, possession of a syringe, driving while suspended and driving without ever obtaining a license.
