COLUMBUS, Ind. —(Updated Thursday 6:15 a.m.)
There are still many residents in Jackson County without power because of damage to a transmission line in the Crothersville area caused by yesterday’s storm. Seymour Community Schools remain closed as a result.
Duke Energy workers are making repairs and moving a mobile substation in to bring some people back online. The Duke Energy website reports power will be restored today.

Storms ripped through central Indiana on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning leaving many without power while shutting down some schools, businesses, and government offices.
In Bartholomew County, lightning strikes were cited in two structure fires. A power outage forced Flat Rock-Hawcreek Schools to close. Bartholomew County REMC and Duke Energy reported hundreds without power.
In Johnson County there were several trees, limbs and power lines reported down. Some roads were blocked by storm debris and standing water.
In Jackson County, Seymour City Hall, Medora Community Schools, Seymour Community Schools and Trinity Lutheran School were all closed due to power outages. The storm damaged a transmission line near Crothersville that left more than 5,500 Jackson County REMC customers in the dark. A sheep barn south of Vallonia was also heavily damaged.
