COLUMBUS, Ind. — Columbus Police made an arrest as the result of a domestic dispute early Wednesday.
Police say they were called to the 4600 block of Breckenridge Drive around midnight on the report of a person kicking-in a door. When officers arrived the female victim informed them that the suspect, James Bowling, 41, had just left the residence. She also told law enforcement she thought Bowling appeared to be intoxicated and left the scene carrying a seven-inch knife, the same knife he allegedly held to her head during an argument.
Police reports indicate officers searched the area on foot with the help of a canine and eventually observed Bowling running behind a nearby mobile home. After refusing commands to stop, officers released the canine and Bowling was quickly captured.
Bowling was taken to Columbus Regional Health for treatment of dog bites and then transported to the Bartholomew County Jail. He was charged with battery, criminal confinement, intimidation with a deadly weapon, interfering with the report of a crime and resisting law enforcement.
