A gas leak has closed the intersection of Home Avenue and 19th Street. Cpt. Mike Wilson from the Columbus Fire Department says the incident was first reported at 2:43 p.m. Saturday.
Initial reports indicate Miller Pipeline may have hit a gas line while excavating in the area. As a result, seven homes were evacuated and electrical service was disconnected. The gas company is monitoring the air to determine the concentration of gas.
VECTREN Energy has had a difficult time fixing the leak and the scene remains active. The Columbus Fire Department has been on the scene providing fire protection.
