COLUMBUS, Ind. — Cummins Inc. has promoted Melina Kennedy to Executive Director-Global Rail and Defense. She will report to the president of Power Systems, Norbert Nusterer, and be a part of his leadership team.
“Over the past few years, Melina has demonstrated a deep understanding of our business, earned our customers’ trust and led impressive revenue growth in our Rail and Defense businesses,” said Nusterer. “Moving forward, I am confident that Melina will continue to grow our Rail and Defense businesses by expanding our customer base for our tremendous product portfolio.”
Kennedy began leading the Rail and Defense team at the close of 2014 and has helped expand the businesses. Revenues in both markets have grown as a result of her leadership. She has been a part of the launch of the Tier 4 QSK 95L, and recently secured a contract to provide hundreds of engines to the U.S. Department of Defense.
Prior to leading the Rail and Defense team she was the director of executive communications, responsible for strategic external and internal communications by the CEO. Prior to joining Cummins she practiced law and help public service positions in Indiana for 15 years.
Kennedy has a degree in Environmental Studies and History, a Master’s degree in Environmental Science, and a Law degree from Indiana University.
