BUTLERVILLE, Ind. – A Butlerville man was arrested after an over 16-hour standoff with police on Saturday. According to the Indiana State Police, officers responded to a Butlerville home on a domestic disturbance call around 3:30 Saturday morning. When they arrived, Charles Mays, 25, allegedly left the home and fired shots at the approaching officers. A press release from the state police says multiple officers returned fire and Mays retreated back into the home where he remained barricaded until finally surrendering about 7:45 p.m.
Mays faces preliminary charges of attempted murder, intimidation with a deadly weapon, criminal recklessness, and battery.
