COLUMBUS. Ind. – Columbus City Engineers and INDOT say they are working to mitigate delays of longer and more frequent CSX freight trains that are expected to run through the city by the end of 2018. City Engineer Dave Hayward said a $27 million project could build an overpass on State Road 46 that runs over the railroad. The soonest the project would get the green light would be in 2022, so for the near term, the city will look at installing cameras at the intersection to help emergency responders and the public.
