INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.—The State of Indiana is in the black. According to state auditor Tera Klutz, Indiana ended Fiscal Year 2017 with a $42 million surplus and nearly $1.8 billion in reserves. The information was recently released in the Fiscal Closeout Report. This is the eighth consecutive year that Indiana has ended a fiscal year with a budget surplus.
