SHELBY COUNTY, Ind.— The Indiana State Police have been asked to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred early Friday morning in Shelby County. The incident began when Shelby County deputies pulled over Jordan Smith, 26, of Indianapolis, just south of Pleasant View. During the stop, Smith’s female passenger told the deputies that he had raped her. Smith took off in the vehicle and led the two deputies on a chase. Once they stopped him again, he was shot and wounded. Smith was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis with non-life-threatening injuries.
