COLUMBUS, Ind. – A Columbus man is in custody after officers allegedly located methamphetamine in his clothing early Tuesday morning. Lt. Matt Harris with the Columbus Police Department says that a CPD officer stopped a vehicle near Ninth Street and Pearl Street with none of the three occupants inside the vehicle possessing a valid driver’s license.
A CPD canine also responded to the scene and detected the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle. Law enforcement said they later located a jacket that contained a small amount of meth on the floorboard of the vehicle where Justin D. Jacobs, 29, of Columbus, had been sitting.
Jacobs was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail, where corrections officers reportedly found additional methamphetamine that Jacobs had concealed in one of his socks. He’s being charged with trafficking with an inmate and possession of methamphetamine.
