COLUMBUS, Ind.— A local woman was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated on Tuesday afternoon after she allegedly struck a motorcycle injuring both the rider and passenger. Authorities at the Columbus Police Department say the accident happened at the intersection of 25th Street and Wedgewood Drive, when Elizabeth Blair, 39, of Columbus, allegedly struck a motorcycle carrying driver Jeffrey Welker, 60, of Anderson, and his passenger, Jennifer Welker, 56, also of Anderson. When officers arrived, they immediately requested a Lifeline Helicopter to transport Jeffrey Welker to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Jennifer Welker was taken to Columbus Regional Health for treatment. Blair was treated at Columbus Regional Health for minor injuries before being transported to the Bartholomew County Jail where she was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury.
