COLUMBUS, Ind.–For the purpose of making streets safer and more visually appealing, the city of Columbus is assisting owners in disposing of their inoperable and abandoned vehicles through the Inoperable Vehicle Abatement Program. Under the program, owners with clear title to such a vehicle, may call the city to have it towed and scrapped. The owner receives 100% of the scrap return, with the city paying all towing fees. The IVAP program kicks into full gear this Monday. Vehicle owners should call Robin Hilber’s office at Columbus City Hall, 812-376-2520, or Code Enforcement Coordinator Fred Barnett, 812-376-8864, to begin the removal process.
