COLUMBUS, Ind.–A semitrailer crashed and caught fire at the 78-mile marker on northbound Interstate 65 around 9:30 a.m. on Monday. German Township’s Rescue 87 responded and found the truck had run into a ditch and had come to rest in some trees. The tractor-trailer, which was empty, was about 80 per cent consumed by fire. The blaze was brought under control in about 20 minutes, but fire crews were on scene for three hours. I-65 was limited to one lane and traffic was backed-up for miles until after the noon hour.
