NEW YORK CITY (AP)–Tuesday afternoon, an Uzbeki man drove a rented, Home Depot pickup truck along a bike and pedestrian path in New York City, killing at least eight people and injuring 13 others. The AP reports that Sayfullo Saipov, 29, drove the truck for roughly 14 blocks on the path, striking walkers and bicyclists, before coming to a stop after hitting a school bus. Police say the suspect exited the vehicle shouting “Allahu Akbar,” translated from Arabic meaning, “God is great.” He was shot by police and taken to an undisclosed hospital. At this time, law enforcement believes Saipov was a lone wolf.
