COLUMBUS, Ind.–The Bartholomew County Board of Commissioners approved an agreement Monday in which the county’s computer systems will soon have proper backup protection again. IT director Scott Mayes says the primary data storage system that runs all of the county’s computers is covered by a service and parts agreement set to expire in March 2018. He added that over time, many of the county’s data storage components, which were originally meant to serve as backups, have been cannibalized to increase the storage capacity needed to house all of the government’s information. However, the result of this procedure left a thinner layer of backup protection.
The new contract with All Covered IT Services, a subsidiary of Konica Minolta, will allow the Bartholomew County IT Department to restore the backup system to a desirable level. The investment for the agreement is approximately $126,000.
