COLUMBUS, Ind.–The city of Columbus has collected all the necessary money to make its first payment to the Indiana Department of Transportation for the State Road 46 Overpass Project. At Tuesday evening’s meeting, director of finance Jamie Brinegar asked Columbus City Council to approve the first reading of a request to appropriate the first $10 million installment to be sent to INDOT. Below is the breakdown of that payment.
• General TIF–$4 million
• Cummins TIF–$5.5 million
• Bartholomew County–$500,000
Council is required to vote a second time on the appropriation and will do so on December 5. Once that vote is approved, the funds will be sent to INDOT on December 15.
