COLUMBUS, Ind.–Cummins Inc. has announced that a longtime-employee will be stepping down. The company confirmed today that Ed Pence, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, is retiring after 36 years with the business. His work for Cummins began in 1981, when he started in purchasing right after graduating from Indiana University.
Prior to becoming VP of Strategic Initiatives, Pence worked as an account manager, industrial sales manager for Cummins Diesel Australia, an account executive working with heavy duty truck customers, and eventually became the leader of the High Horsepower Engine Business in 2012.
While he enjoyed his role in the company’s evolution into a global power leader, Pence says he also took tremendous satisfaction from serving as a mentor to other employees. He was known for carrying a small copy of the company’s “Mission, Vision and Values” in his shirt pocket.
