COLUMBUS, Ind.–Authorities at the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s office say that quick action by deputies on Monday prevented a victim’s stolen metal from being sold for scrap. The sheriff’s office indicates that Isaac Spiehler, 49, of Columbus, stole a pile of scrap metal from a business near Taylorsville Elementary School.
Law enforcement says that a friend of the victim had seen what he thought was a suspicious vehicle at the business, got the suspect’s license plate number and relayed it to deputies.
Spiehler was about to sell the alleged stolen material for scrap at The Kroot Corporation in Columbus before officers apprehended him. He was arrested and charged with theft and receiving stolen property.
