COLUMBUS, Ind.–The Columbus Police Department has released the identity of the man who struck an unoccupied patrol car Saturday night on State Road 46W, in front of the Circle K convenient store. Lt. Matt Harris of CPD says Jacob Voelker, 22, of Sidney, Ohio, was allegedly intoxicated when he hit the vehicle. The police car was at the scene of a fatal accident that had already involved multiple vehicles, and had its emergency lights activated at the time of the collision.
Voelker suffered minor injuries and was treated at Columbus Regional Health before later being remanded to the Bartholomew County Jail. He was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
