GREENWOOD, Ind.–At its February meeting, the Greenwood Redevelopment Commission recently approved a total of $4.5M in investments for improvements to the downtown area. According to Inside Indiana Business, the monies will be used to build a new connector road in the city, provide a major exterior renovation for the Planetary Brewing Company Tap Room, and for other smaller reconstruction projects.
Planetary Brewing, near the corner of Madison Avenue and Main Street, is receiving money from the “G.R.O.W. Greenwood Initiative” that has assisted businesses along main corridors to improve their outward appearances through matching grants.
The connector road being considered would follow the northern edge of the former Greenwood Middle School through Old City Park. Sidewalks, street lighting, and a drainage system would be added along with 160 additional parking spaces shared between the city and Our Lady of Greenwood Catholic Church.
