COLUMBUS, Ind.–A local business met a not-so-happy ending after law enforcement shut it down late Wednesday morning. Lt. Matt Harris of the Columbus Police Department says that the public called in tips that alerted detectives to supposed prostitution taking place at Sunflower Massage, 3974 25th St., in Columbus. During the police investigation, Harris says an undercover officer entered the establishment and an employee allegedly offered to perform a sexual act in exchange for money.
The establishment had also recently encountered trouble with city code enforcement. The business opened in February 2017 and was originally known as the Blue Bay Health Spa and Massage. When the massage parlor changed ownership and changed its name in December 2017, the business failed to apply for a new permit with the city of Columbus.
Shortly after the warrant was served at 11 a.m. on Wedneday, Columbus Code Enforcement closed down the establishment with an emergency action order for a non-existent permit to operate the business.
