NORTH VERNON, Ind.–A Jennings County teen died Saturday morning in what authorities believe was a weather-related crash. The two-vehicle accident occurred on U.S. 50 in Jennings County, near County Road 450W, when 17-year-old Morgan Gibson, of North Vernon, lost control of her car, crossed the center line, and entered the path of a vehicle driven by Destiny Gerringer, 24, of North Vernon. Gibson was pronounced dead at the scene, while Gerringer suffered serious injuries and was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis.
Frozen precipitation was falling around the time of the crash. The roadway surface condition was icy and is believed to be a factor in the accident, which is still under investigation.
