JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind.–The Johnson County Community Foundation is moving forward with two mural projects. The foundation is inviting local artists, emerging artists, art students and creative community members to submit mural designs by May 11, for the Color the County Mural Program. The selected locations for the 2018 murals are on the South Main Street bridge underpass in Franklin and on East Main Cross Street in Edinburgh.
The Color the County Mural Program joins artists and communities through the collaborative process of mural making to create art that can transform public spaces, neighborhood identities, and individual lives. The program hopes to create a pedestrian-friendly, aesthetically pleasing environment for visitors and community members. The selected designer(s) will be awarded $1,000 or a scholarship for each design.
JCCF will celebrate each work of art with a summer Community Painting Day where residents of all ages will help bring the murals to life.
