FRANKLIN, Ind.–A woman crashed her car into a utility pole Wednesday evening in Franklin and was arrested a short time later. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says that Shirley Calvert, 52, of Franklin, was uneasy on her feet, smelled of alcohol, and insisted on fighting officers and medics at the scene of the accident.
Eventually, law enforcement was able to transport her to Johnson Memorial Health to be checked for injuries and for a blood draw. Calvert allegedly refused to give consent for the blood draw several times before finally relenting. She remained at the hospital for injuries sustained during the accident, but was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and reckless driving.
