COLUMBUS, Ind.–A Columbus traffic stop on Tuesday led to the arrest of a man who is being held on a bond of almost $1 million. Lt. Matt Harris of the Columbus Police Department says officers spotted Jermaine Ford, 32, of Columbus, near State Road 11 and Carl Miske Drive. He had been wanted for two active warrants. Ford was taken into custody without incident and transported to Bartholomew County Jail.
One warrant is for two counts of dealing methamphetamine and the other warrant is for charges of carrying a handgun without a license, criminal recklessness, intimidation, pointing a firearm. His bond was set for $950,000.
Ford is no stranger to law enforcement. In January 2017, he and a passenger were pulled over in Columbus for a registration problem that led to charges of an outstanding warrant from Cook County, Illinois, possession of a handgun by a violent felon, possession of handgun without a license, possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, dealing in marijuana and dealing in methamphetamine.
On February 28, he and another passenger, were arrested by Indiana State Police when a vehicle search allegedly turned up methamphetamine, heroin, controlled substances, and drug paraphernalia, along with a stolen handgun. In that incident, Ford racked up charges of possession of a handgun by a serious violent felon, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and theft.
