COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Police Department has hired two new officers. Mayor Jim Lienhoop swore in the new recruits at the Board of Public Works and Safety meeting on July 3.
Officer Cody Wooten lives in Westport and graduated from South Decatur High School. He spent some years away from the area, however, serving with the New Albany Police Department as a member of the SWAT, a field training officer, and firearms instructor. He also logged tours of duty in Bosnia and Iraq with the Indiana National Guard.
Officer Sean Deem, from Greenwood, has a bachelor’s degree in criminology from Indiana State University and is currently serving in the Indiana National Guard.
Both men will go through the department’s field training program this month.
