GREENWOOD, Ind.–Greenwood is being considered for a major distribution project from Amazon.com, Inc. According to our partners at Inside INdiana Business, the city has approved $7 million in tax abatements if Amazon brings an $80 million “receive center” to the municipality. If the plan comes to fruition, it would create 1,250 full-time jobs for Johnson County.
The 615,000-square-foot facility would be built on the site of a proposed FedEx distribution center, plans for which were ultimately scrapped earlier this year. Greenwood Mayor Mark Myers says nothing is official yet as Amazon is also considering another city for the project.
