COLUMBUS, Ind.–Ivy Tech Community College and Toyota Industrial Equipment Mfg. Inc. (TIEM) will unveil the new Toyota Industrial Equipment Welding Laboratory at Ivy Tech in Columbus with a special ceremony at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, September 25.
Of the $367,800 gift TIEM has donated to the college, Ivy Tech used $250,000 to renovate, expand and upgrade its welding lab, nearly tripling its size and giving students access to advanced equipment that aligns with industry standards. TIEM also provided 19 engines with a total value of $117,800, which will be distributed to Ivy Tech campuses throughout the state.
The unveiling ceremony will be at the new Ivy Tech Agriculture Industrial Technology Center building, 2565 Grissom St., Columbus. TIEM Senior Vice President Tony Miller, Ivy Tech Columbus Chancellor Dr. Steven Combs, and Therese Copeland, Ivy Tech Columbus Executive Director of Resource Development, are scheduled to speak. Tours of the new lab will follow the ceremony.
