SEYMOUR, Ind.–Detectives with Indiana State Police arrested a Seymour man Thursday following a four-month investigation. Sergeant Stephen Wheeles, ISP public information officer, says that the inquiry began in May when a female claimed she had been molested by Jerry Rice, 73, on multiple occasions in the early to mid-nineties when she was between three and nine years of age. The alleged incidents occurred at a home owned by Rice in rural Jackson County.
Through the course of the investigation, officials located a second victim who had not come forward until now. Investigators say she told them that Rice molested her in the mid-eighties in Vallonia.
When their inquiry concluded, state police submitted the case to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office for review. Troopers served an arrest warrant on the suspect at his residence in Jackson County.
Rice was charged with two counts of child molesting, Class A Felony, and two counts of Child Molesting, Class C Felony. He was remanded to the Jackson County Jail pending his initial court appearance.
