CLIFFORD, Ind.–Emergency personnel responded to a single-vehicle accident in northeast Bartholomew County in the early hours of Sunday morning. Sources with the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office say that the crash took place in the area around County Road 250E, near Clifford. Upon arrival, deputies found a split utility pole and a Jeep on its side with smoke coming from the engine housing.
A female identified as Savannah Hall, 29 of Columbus, climbed out of the vehicle, and told the officer she had been driving home when the crash occurred. She allegedly admitted to the deputy that she had consumed alcohol earlier in the evening and was also texting at the time of the mishap. A short time later, the engine burst into flames, engulfing the entire vehicle.
Hall was taken into custody, charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, and transported to Bartholomew County Jail.
