COLUMBUS, Ind.—The Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce, Dimension Mill of Bloomington, and Elevate Ventures of Indianapolis established a new partnership to fuel entrepreneurship and innovation across the south-central Indiana area. Formally named Velocities, the partnership is designed to accelerate innovation over the next three years by developing an entrepreneurship-minded culture and infrastructure.
Terms of the agreement include a $1.5 million pledge by Elevate Ventures and a $1 million combined contribution from Bloomington and Columbus. Initiatives include investments in local high-potential and high-growth businesses, portfolio services, educational events for entrepreneurs and investors, marketing support, business coaching, access to professional resources, a dedicated Entrepreneur-in-Residence, and more.
In addition to an esteemed board of directors consisting of local dignitaries from the region, the Velocities partnership is backed by a wide range of institutional funders, including Bloomington Economic Development Corporation, city of Columbus, Duke Energy Foundation, First Financial Bank, German American Bank, Heritage Fund – The Community Foundation of Bartholomew County, Indiana University, Ivy Tech Community College – Bloomington, Johnson Ventures, Old National Bank, Upland Brewing and others.
